Frequently
Asked Questions:
Are
our prices fair?
Most people say that the entertainment and food are the two most important
parts of a great party, and they usually remember the music long after they
forget the prime rib. Yet, at a typical wedding of, say, 150 guests, the cost
for food is often $50 to $100 per person and my DJ services only cost about $5
per person. That is more than fair.
If I
hire Orlando Disc Jockeys, who will be my DJ?
Orlando Disc Jockeys is owned and operated by me, Ken Mayen. I employ
3 or 4 DJ's at any given time, who are professionally trained at every type of
event. I will be the DJ for your event unless you request another one of our DJ's
or I am already booked. I never subcontract to outside companies. All of our DJs
were selected by me based on their talent and professionalism. They all have
reputations of their own and I have complete confidence in their service. I can
supply testimonials on their behalf on demand. The reputation of my company is
far too important to me to settle for less.
Can I
meet with the DJ?
Of course. In fact, I recommend that we meet twice, both before and after
booking. In the first meeting, we can discuss your needs, then about one month
before your event, we can finalize the details.
Can I
see the DJ perform live?
We usually do bridal showcases so you may see us there, as it is difficult to invite clients to other
clients' weddings.
What
area do you serve?
We serve the entire Central Florida area.
I'm
looking for a certain style. Can you accommodate my wishes?
That's why I'd like to speak with you personally. You can customize the
style of your event, ranging from a low-key, elegant wedding at an intimate
restaurant, to a high-energy and elaborate dance party for hundreds of guests at
a catering hall.
What
kind of music do you play?
Basically, whatever you and your guests want to hear. I carry an enormous
music collection containing thousands of hit songs on CDs. If you'd rather not
make a request list, I will read the crowd and select just the right music based
on my years of experience.
Do you
have all the latest music?
I stay up-to-date by subscribing to multiple Music pools in every format of today's
music.
How
many hours are included?
Most of our price quotes include up to 4 hours in one room, however we will
gladly customize for shorter or longer events. Overtime is available at all
events.
What
do you play over cocktails and dinner?
Generally softer music, such as jazz instrumentals, soft rock or love songs,
at a volume that is low enough to allow your guests to talk. Of course, this is
just a suggestion. You can make a separate request list just for these portions
of the event.
Can
you play at my wedding ceremony as well?
Absolutely. If this requires an additional system we will add one at a very
reasonable rate.
When
will the DJ arrive at the event?
I usually arrive 1 to 2 hours prior to the contracted start time to set
up.
What
will you wear?
We can be suit or tuxedo-attired at your choice, unless you prefer something
else.
What
kind of equipment is provided?
Orlando Disc Jockeys uses only the newest, top of the line professional DJ audio and
lighting equipment. A cordless microphone is available for speeches or toasts.
Are
lighting effects included?
We will include lighting for a small additional charge, based on your needs.
We have several different lighting packages, ranging from small dance floor
set-ups to giant intelligent light shows, which you may choose from.
Are
giveaways included?
We include some basic party favors at no cost to you (some things are
inexpensive enough for us to do so, usually Hawaiian leis & beach balls)
How
long has Orlando Disc Jockeys been in business?
Orlando Disc Jockeys was established in 2007 by Ken Mayen. I started Dynamic Entertainment
in NY in 1983 and ran it up until 2006. So the answer would be over 24 years
all together.
How
much of a deposit is required?
We require a $100 deposit to hold the date. Then, 50% of the balance is
due one month prior to the event, with the final balance due at the start of the
event.
How
far in advance should I book?
That's hard to say. Some dates are booked two years in advance, while others
aren't booked until a month before. However, as a dual-system company, I can
only book on a first-come, first-serve basis, with a deposit required to hold a
date. So, I would recommend that you send your deposit as soon as you decide to
use us.
What
if I can't meet with you? Can I book online or over telephone?
Yes, you may call
us Mon - Fri from 9am to 7pm with the details and I'll send you a contract
& all the necessary paperwork. If the event is too soon for mailing, I'll
simply bring blank forms to the event. You may also book or inquire about a date
online at:
